May Birthdays

Central Youth- will be selling lunch today following worship service. Cost is $6.00 proceeds will benefit the challenge fund.

CDs are on sale now- recordings of Dr. Edward Maki-Schramm are now available. The CD includes portions of his recital with Dr. Kibbie this past may at Central plus excerpts from his other concerts at Hill Auditorium, Ann Arbor and St. Thomas Church, New York. The CDs are $15. All proceeds go to offset the general Budget deficit of the church . Please make checks payable to Central Church. Dr. Maki- Schramm will be available after worship on the second floor.

Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery is sponsoring a PEACE FOR ALL AGES Program. The program will include poetry and stories by Larry Johnson, art projects, and a visit to the Visions of Peace exhibit. Date: Sunday, June 6, 2004 Time: 1:00-2:30pm for ages 9 and under 3:00-4:30pm for ages ten and above. Adults are encouraged to attend with the youth. Reservations are required due to space limitations. Call 313-963-7575 by May 26 to make reservations.

DaVita McCallister- will be ordained on Sunday, June 27th at the UCC Church in Atlanta. She would like to know how many from central are coming to her ordination because she is providing food on Saturday, June 26th. To RSVP please see Joanne Synder or Janet Moody.

Visions of Peace, children’s art from 30 area schools and educational institutions is the featured exhibit at swords into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery from Tuesday, April 27th through July 17th, 2004. The art reflects the young artists’ interpretation of the United Nations Conference on the Rights of Children and it always a delightful and moving experience to see how hope and imagination are reflected in the art. The Center is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11: 00 to 3:00, and by special appointment by calling the Center in advance.

Remember the Sphinx Competition ? This fall Sphinx is starting a Saturday preparatory program for young instrumentalists in the Detroit Metro area. CYM members who will be between 12 and 18 should see Caen for an application or go to www.sphinxmusic.org.

Value Shop- the value shop is in need of mens clothing of all sizes.
