Each Link above leads to a prayer or Scriptures that we were offered to read on this day. These are prayers that should not be restricted to just one day.
On Tuesday Sept 21 Central United Methodist Church joined millions worldwide in a prayer for peace. For twelve hours straight members of the congregation came to the church and entered the sanctuary to pray.
Churches representing over 550 million Christians world-wide had been invited to mark 21 September as an International Day of Prayer for Peace.
As many people as participated at central on Tuesday, Many more of you were not able to join in the celebration. Here on line are a list of suggested scriptures to study as well as prayers for peace gathered from around the world.
| The World Council of Churches is a fellowship of churches, now 342, in
more
than 120 countries in all continents from virtually all Christian
traditions.
The Roman Catholic Church is not a member church but works
cooperatively with
the WCC. The highest governing body is the assembly, which meets
approximately
every seven years. The WCC was formally inaugurated in 1948 in
Amsterdam,
Netherlands. Its staff is headed by general secretary Samuel Kobia from
the
