Consistent with our ongoing mission and commitment to overcome racism, sexism, ageism, and classism, Central United Methodist Church of Detroit hereby joins the witness to open the doors of the United Methodist Church to the participation of all people, regardless of sexual orientation, by declaring itself to be a Reconciling Congregation. In the Spring of 2000 the membership of Central United Methodist Church voted in a special Charge Conference to be come a Reconciling Congregation. This is the The Reconciling Statement that was drafted that day.

Currently this congregation is welcoming the participation of all people, regardless of sexual orientation
